Final "New Technology" Blog Post

The design of my presentation differed from how I thought it would in the beggining because their was a mix up of how many people were in a group. So I had to redo my project and change my technology. In the beggining I though my project would end up with a certain trchnology, but it came out to be with a different one.

The strengths were that my Animoto was very well and entertaining using colors and music. The VoiceThread was also very strong because the wording and sound was true and not boring because the technology was very exciting. The weaknesses were that the posts were very long (which was good to the teacher) but not too great for the children because it is very boring to look through two pages of work. Also I had to look through both pages, so the internet had to load the page, which was a silent and aquard time.

My work could have been improved if the VoiceThread was louder and if the pictures on the blog were more neat.

I would reccomend students to do this next year because it takes a lot of work and focus and I believe that the students next year would need these characteristics to get through the senior school succesfully especialy in the larger grades.

Problems

Throughout this project there have been many problems. With Animoto the animoto took a very large time to create so we had to wait and sometimes redo it in the next lesson. Over half of the class had problems with VoiceThread including me. The voice would not work except on some computers. These problems were major but most of the project ran by smoothly and I am happy for that. Throughout the project I worked productivly and I am happy with my work.

April 17th: Todays Work

Today I have finished my Animoto and put it on Blogger. The remix is finished as well. I am proud of my work. Overall I am doing well and using my time wisely throughout the project.

Todays Work

Today I have finished all of the work needed by the checklist. I worked productivly and got what was needed to be done done. I am extremely happy that I have finished succesfully and on time. Overall I enjoyed the project and working with websites that I never worked with (Animoto, Voicethread). The project has been fun but I knew that I would have to push myself to finish, and thats what I did. I am proud of my finished work on the Blackberry Curve 8320.

Today's Work

Throughout today in I.T class (May 1st 2008) I have finished recording the voice onto my VoiceThread Blackberry pictures. I have worked well throughout the class and finished a lot of work. In the beggining I had started on the recording on my normal computer but nothing worked so I had to go to the front computer where it worked. Although I had to stress myself to finish a lot of work in a small time (because of the computer problems). Overall I got a lot of work done and I am happy to be finished with my VoiceThread and everything which was before it on time.

New Technology For Learning: Design

What tasks would it be used for?

The 8320 can be used for emailing after school hours to teachers and students for homework and school-work related subjects. This will really speed up finding peoples phone number, calling, and then finally asking them. It can also be used to finish or make Microsoft related presentations and documents because it has a built in keyboard to make typing be even easier than carrying a laptop around. It can be used to finish work in an overall portable shape and size.

Would all students need one?

Yes, because that is the only way that all students and teachers can interact easily. If only one third of the students have one, then the other two thirds cannot email or help the other students (or be helped) except after school or in their home with a laptop or computer. Although this would work, it would slow down the operation tremendously.

How could the use of the technology add value or improve the lesson?

During lessons, this amazing phone can easily be a phone with a camera for pictures and videos of lessons. It can also be a computer so that we can open blogs about lessons when needed. If each student had their own, we could help each other in blogs because our writing could be wrong, so the students can correct us when we correct them. Also as students we have homework and school-work, we could start and finish work before asked, and get better grades as students.

New Technology For Learning: Investigate

What is the new technology? How is it used in everyday life for communication or creativity?

The Blackberry Curve 8320 can help us in our learning during school hours due to the fact that it is literally a laptop in a mobile. The camera is 5.0 Magapixel which can take good pictures and videos of almost anything in sight. The Blackberry comes with Microsoft Word and you can download all of the other Microsoft Offices onto it so that you have a laptop computer in your pocket during school hours.

Where do you get it? How much does it cost? What are the brands and models available?

To buy this phone, you will either have to go to America or buy from Ebay. You can also buy it from The Blackberry official website. The models available are the 8300, the 8310, and the 8320. The 8320 is used for comunicating in so many ways. It's internet can be used for emailing, and it being a phone can be used for calling and texting people.

How is it or could it be used for learning at school?

During lessons, this amazing phone can easily be a phone with a camera for pictures and videos of lessons. It can also be a computer so that we can open blogs about lessons when needed. If each student had their own, we could help each other in blogs because our writing could be wrong, so the students can correct us when we correct them.

Technology I use at Home

PS2-

At home I use my PS2 to play games and listen to music while doing work, I can also watch DVD's on my PS2. It is important to me because without it I could not play games as well as that it passes the time when needed. You connect the wire into the ps2 and you press the red button until it turns green, it then shows the game that you put in, and you either start a new game or continue an old one. You could not use this item at school, but you can listen to music while doing your homework which would lead to better grades.

Dell Computer-

I use this to play games, to work, to look at pictures, to listen to music, and much more. Althougth the computer is wonderful I do not use it for more than two hours a day. You turn it on by pressing the button on the hardrive, signing in and starting what you want to do. It is important to me because it lets me type, have internet, and finish homework. Overall this machine helps to speed up work, and make it easier to do homework and asinments. You can use this at school to do work, to save items, to make sure that your work is neat, and to use in classes such as english, humanities, I.T, D.T, and many other subjects.

Television-

Television in a normal fashion, is a machine made to entertain people but it can be used to educate. There are many channels such as Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, and many others which teach people about many things including science and nature. It is important to me because I use it for entertainment as well as education, and without this amazing invention I would be clueless and bored. You could use this at school by playing one of the education channels in front of students, or by playing an educational video for the students.

I-Pod-

The I-Pod can be used for many subjects such as saving a document or listening to music. It is important to me because I listen to it while doing work which helps me focus. You could use it at school instead of a Memory Stick. You use it by turning it on and downloading the music and videos that you want.

Cell Phone/Home Phone

Any phone is important to many people including me becasuse I call people and get calls. This can bring news to people or just the fact that their friend wants to chat. You use it by turning it on and typing the number that you want. It can be used for school because you can send yourself and other people assignments for school. You can also use the internet that is on the phone and to search while on the go.

Radio-

Radios are made for music but can be used to listen to news and educational programs. It is important to me because it keeps me understanding what happens in the world while listening to music. You turn it on and tune in to your favorite station. It is that simple! It can be used in school to prove ideas from the media.

DVD Player-

A DVD Player can be used to watch educational videos are movies. It can be used in school to show movies about history, science, and much more. It is important to me because it plays the movies that I buy and it keeps me from getting bored. You turn it on and insert your DVD, you press the play button and turn the television on and change it until you get AV.
